JAMES BUCHANAN: A MISUNDERSTOOD LEADER
October 15, 2009 at the McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church, 116 South Second Street

Few, if any former Presidents have served this country longer, in more capacities and with greater distinction than James Buchanan. While Buchanan was not America's best President, he was a far better leader than most historians believe. Throughout his four years in office, in spite of enormous pressure, Buchanan remained true to the principles on which he ran for office and which he had espoused his entire life.

Employment: 38 years a teacher and coach at Mercersburg Academy.
Education: B.A. -University of Pennsylvania, M. A. Lehigh University
Family : Wife Stephanie, Two grown children Kris and Amanda
Since 1991 I have given over 300 talks on the life and times of James Buchanan. I was the only high school teacher selected to be a primary presenter on C-Span's series on the American Presidency.
